Internet Explorer 7 is being picky with my site. Get Firefox.

I’m not trying to blame IE 7.0 for all the problems with my blog, but Firefox is a better browser.  Give it a try.

It Was All Arranged Beforehand, Can’t You See?

This story made me realize that Microsoft was the one who approached Universal Music about giving them a piece of their new Zune player. Why would they do that, you ask? Because it legitimizes Zune as a real threat to Apple’s iPod in a way that no other move could do. Plus, Microsoft has always been good about pouring money into a project until it bears fruit, no matter what the short-term cons are. It says, “Hey look, we’re so sure about Zune’s success that we’re willing to share revenues with a music company.”

And that really doesn’t make any sense either (which is further evidence). Think about it. Universal getting a piece of every Zune sale means all the record companies that ever existed could have gotten a piece of the sales of every car stereo, CD player, radio, home stereo, and walkman that was ever sold.

I like the part about Universal saying they’ve got a negotiation coming up with Apple and that they’ll be asking for a similar deal with them. If Apple agrees, then I’m wrong and I’ll admit it. If Apple tells Universal to go fuck themselves, then my little theory holds up like the Hoover dam.

Another Chemical Plant Bites the Dust

This time in Danvers, a small town outside of Boston, MA.

Now, if I were a conspiracy theorist, I might attempt to draw a line between what happened here in Apex last month to what just happened in Danvers. I’d also ask, “Homeland Security, are you paying attention?”

If I were a conspiracy nut, that is.

And yes, I’ve been away quite a while resting on non-existent laurels and it’s been quite nice to not have to think about “what I’m going to post today.” I saw an article in Wired that said all the best blogs are about specific topics, that the good blogs are not necessarily journals/diaries. That may be true. I could make a blog specifically about any single interest of mine: movies, home recording studios, computers, three-legged pooches, politics, etc.

Ultimately though, I wouldn’t like to limit myself to only a single topic. When I feel the need to say something about any of the above, I’d like to have the appropriate forum. Sure, my audience may be smaller and more fickle because of it, but fuck them. What the hell do they know? I’m the one putting myself out here and using my real name, no less. They can lick my nutsack.

Sorry for lashing out, baby. You know I didn’t mean it. Now get me a beer like a good girl.
