A Simple Plan Part 2

Posted by Christopher Van Epps on April 29th, 2005

This is a story ’bout a man named Tim.
He was roofing up his house
to keep the pouring rain off him.

He dug some little bushes to save a set of stairs,
that’s when he found a bunch of cash
that caught him unawares.

Another Reason to Fucking Hate Bush

Posted by Christopher Van Epps on April 28th, 2005

This is a story about how George W. Bush signed a bill that provides legal protection for DVD filtering technology, which skips or mutes content that could be called offensive. This means that Hollywood studios cannot sue organizations that sell filtered versions of movies. This technology was created by a single company, named ClearPlay.

Never mind the issue of this technology creating movies that make no sense because a “naughty” scene or a “naughty” word is removed, producing a piece of entertainment that is not at all what the director intended.

I won’t even address the issue of who gets the job to determine what content is naughty and what content is nice? I’ll bet it’s not Santa Claus.

I also won’t get into the issue of “why can’t parents monitor their children’s movie watching” because THAT is an absolute waste of time. I’ve always said parents who don’t want the responsibility of raising their children should not fucking have them! Logic has absolutely NO PLACE in the world today and I’m learning to accept that.

So setting those issues aside, how is it that Bush is signing legislation that benefits ONE COMPANY? He tried to do the same thing with Terri Schiavo last month; trying to make legislation that would benefit the parents of Schiavo. This is pandering to special interests in the worst way!

I’m also going to have to offer a giant “fuck you” to Congress for allowing such legislation to pass unfettered. Great job!

Apple Terminator

Posted by Christopher Van Epps on April 28th, 2005

This is a bewildering story about the draconian measures Apple Computer has recently taken to prevent the publication of a Steve Jobs biography. It also mentions how it sued a 19 year old blogger for revealing the computer company’s plans for the $499 Mac mini.

Hell, it’s not very safe out here in Blogville. We could be sued any minute!

In fact, I’ve been sitting on this little Apple secret for quite some time and I figure now’s the time to reveal what I know: Apple Computer has plans to construct a temporal displacement device so they can go back in time and murder the mother of Bill Gates.

Justice Caught On Tape

Posted by Christopher Van Epps on April 27th, 2005

This video shows a little helion (granted, she’s only 5, but she’s a fucking helion anyway) being handcuffed and taken away by the police. Apparently, she’s a case that’s well-known by the officers, based on what’s said to the girl. It’s merely scare tactics and it works quite well.

Spanish Ant Inquisition

This story tells of the discovery of “torture ants.” What they need is a teaspoon of Ortho!

Brazillians Posing with a Cardboard Cutout

Posted by Christopher Van Epps on April 27th, 2005

This photo spread is hysterical. It’s a Brazillian photo-sharing site and I have no idea to whom these pictures belong. But the chick in the silver dress is a smiling robot, I think, because she never alters her facial expression. Hysterical.

350?? DOH!

Posted by Christopher Van Epps on April 26th, 2005

The Simpsons have hit their 350th episode this coming Sunday, according to this story. Ay caramba! That’s a lot of Korean ink! I really hope they make it past Gunsmoke’s legendary 20 year run from 1955 to 1975.

Super Home Theater

Wow! That was my reaction when I saw this guy’s completed home theater project. He could’ve shown a better movie, though.

In a Strange, Sick Way…

Posted by Christopher Van Epps on April 25th, 2005

…the train crash in Japan gives me a little bit of hope. We’ve had our share of train wrecks over the years. In fact, the Acela line from Boston to NY ran into some trouble very recently. Each time a stateside Amtrack derailed, I chalked it up to budget cuts, maintenance problems, or plain old American stupidity. But now that Japan has had it’s own horrifying wreck, I feel like, “hey, it can happen to them too! We’re not the only ones!”

I rode the Acela line from Baltimore to New York a few years ago. It was a really nice and fast ride, I must say. It’s too bad they’re having problems.
