Again, no CD news. But I’ve updated the “Pictures” page to include a photo series I’ve started in celebration of one of my favorite things…FOOD.
No CD news to tell but there is some Jake news. I just got back from PetSmart, where Jake was having a “spa” day. Bath, teeth brushed, hair clipped, etc. Boy, does he look different!
I completed most of the guitars for Ombudsman (5 tracks out of 6) and also extended the percussion to keep the cool feedback at the end. Heh heh.
Doug, Alan, and Criggy came over Friday night and we did another stellar recording session by “laying some track” to a kooky little tune called Ben Fong-Torres. On Saturday, I added two more guitar tracks to Gemini and on Sunday, I did some guitar work for Ombudsman. The latter session probably won’t be in the final version but I’m getting used to playing at that unusually fast tempo.
This weekend saw finishing touches to The Assault and to Counterclockwise.
Know what? Never mind about that Pig-Harmonica. It’s actually called a bass harmonica. I found one and it’s going to add a new level of humor to that song, Carolina.
Late last night, I continued the recording efforts and completed the song Messages.
So far so good. I did acoustic tracks for Where I Am and Counterclockwise. I also did bass for Counterclockwise and added a nice smooth Hammond organ sound on Ben Fong-Torres. Tonight, we celebrate.
Played the hermit once again and worked on the CD. I finished guitar tracks for The Assault, arranged bass for Beautiful, and completed most of the booklet layout.
This past weekend was quite productive. Entire tracks were completed, including Kerry’s Song, That Which Is Preferred, and Ben Fong-Torres, including all that “intricate guitar work.” Ha!
I have been remiss in keeping this little journal as comprehensive as possible. A few weeks back, Doug Lahman and Alan Riggs came over and helped me add “local color” to one of the songs. They actually sat down and wrote all this really funny “filler” for the chorus of Carolina. It added quite a bit to the tune so now that song has five, count ‘em, FIVE writers! Wow. Additionally, we now have a hidden track. Soooo EEEEEE! So, thanks guys.
In other news, my car died in the parking lot of Guitar Center on Capitol Boulevard this past Sunday. I wandered around like a mental patient for a couple hours before calling Doug “Roadside Assistance” Lahman. Turns out it was just the battery. Whew!
