(tracks) Getting Laid

Posted by Christopher Van Epps on May 27th, 2002

Today was pretty busy. After cleaning the studio, I laid bass, 2 acoustic, main vocals and harmony tracks for Carolina in less than 4 hours. That probably doesn’t sound so great for a 2 1/2 minute song but trust me, it’s solid progress. Now I have to clean the studio again.

Been awhile, huh? Hey, I’ve been very busy on the CD, kid. It’s coming along very nicely. A friend of mine and consummate bassist, Don Curtis, has agreed to play on Ombudsman. I’m quite excited by it since he is a much better bass player than I. The CD is starting to really take shape: it will have (tentatively) 21 tracks and it will play as though it were one entire track with no pauses in-between songs. This is hardly an innovation (Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queensryche all have done it) but you couldn’t imagine how challenging it is. Once I clear up a possible legal issue with one of the songs, I can reveal the song list.

I’ve also become a member of Just Plain Folks. This is an independent musician community, dedicated to using the resources of the internet to make issues like recording, distribution, and promotion all within reach of the musician without a record deal. It’s pretty amazing that with all the services they offer, membership is completely free. Wow!

This coming week, I’m off from work to concentrate on the rest of the CD. It should be out in September or October. Keep early autumn free for the release party! Heh!
